Stock prices were down 0.8% on the first trading day of August 2025on impact from after end month transactions. NSE 20 lost the most at 0.8% followed by NSE 25 and NSE 10 with 0.7% and 0.7% losses respectively.
Shares traded however improved 21.5% from 15.05Mn to 18.29MN shares to elevate the day’s turnover at 32.8% from KES 361.79Mn to KES 480.64Mn. Safaricom retained the top mover position after trading 8.28Mn shares valued at 215.39Mn.
Daily foreign activity improved marginally from 23.7% to 26.1% with a 40.9% rise in net foreign inflows from KES 136.03Mn to KES 191.60Mn. Secondary bond trading activity improved 40.5% from KES 4.72Mn to KES 6.63Mn as the deals traded went up 10.0% from 120 to 136 deals.
The National Treasury re-opened two infrastructure papers, IFB1/2018/015 (7.5-yrs) and IFB1/2022/019 (15.6-yrs) for August 2025 primary auction seeking KES 90 billion from the public. Watch out for our pre-auction advisory note.
