The overall market started off at a decline of 0.5% followed closely by NSE 20 with a drop of 0.3% and a drop of 0.2% in the NSE 25 and NSE 10 counters.

Shares traded declined from 20.50Mn to 15.05Mn which is a 26.6% drop. As such, the market turnover decreased from KES483.55Mn to KES 213.97Mn.

Absa New Gold was the top mover of the day with a turnover of KES of 95.21Mn which was as a result of an increase in price and volume traded. Kenya Power followed with a turnover of KES 52.87Mn.

Foreign activity increased from 23% to 24.6% .This is brought about by an increase in foreign sales, from KES96.93Mn to KES 115.38Mn, and a drop in foreign buys, from KES 126.11Mn to KES 36.84Mn, hence resulting in a negative net foreign inflow of KES 78.54Mn.

Secondary bonds value traded increased from KES 2.864Bn to 5.602Bn despite the recent impact of the re-opened papers FXD1/2018/015 (7.7 years) of 12.65% coupon and FXD1/2021/020 (15.9-years) of 13.444% witnessed in the last one week.

The primary auction for FXD1/2018/015 and FXD1/2021/020 is scheduled for 15th October for a value payment on 21st October 2025.
