Daily Market Brief

Stock prices edged down by 0.3%, largely propelled by losses in the Manufacturing (-1.7%), Insurance (-1.4%), and Investment (-1.0%) sectors. NSE 10 and the banking sector dropped by 0.3% each, while NSE 20 and NSE 25 dropped by 0.2% each.

Volumes traded shrank by 37.6% from 25.94Mn to 16.20Mn shares, resulting in a 15.0% drop in total turnover from KES 1,008.94Mn to KES 858.03Mn.

EABL emerged as the day’s top mover with a turnover of KES 325.53Mn, followed by Safaricom and Equity Group with KES 195.61Mn and KES 109.43Mn in turnover, respectively.

Foreign activity rose to 42.9%, with a net foreign inflow of KES 44.78Mn. Net foreign inflow happened on Equity Group and EABL, while BAT had net foreign outflows.

Secondary bonds’ turnover declined significantly from KES 6.83Bn to KES 836.35Mn while the number of deals dropped from 197 to 58. FXD1/2021/20yr was the most traded, with KES 350.00Mn in turnover.
