Stocks recorded a marginal gain of 0.1% on Thursday, 17th July 2025, to push the market cap 0.1% up from KES 2.48Tr to 2.49Tr. NSE 1o and NSE 25 stocks however, lost 0.3% each as NSE 20 also shed 0.4%.
Market turnover improved 25.5% from KES 480.90MN to KES 603.46MN despite almost a similar drop in shares traded from 20.85MN to 15.50Mn shares, supported by high value tickers traded. Stan-Chart led the banking sector to emerge the day’s top mover after trading 955,900 shares valued at KES 288.68Mn.
Foreign activity doubled from 8.8% to 19.5% on improved foreign transactions on Safaricom and KCB.
Secondary bond trading activity dropped 33.3% from KES 18.82Bn to KES 12.55Bn as market activity on the recent primary auction papers edged down.
Heavy bonds activity remained on the FXD1/2018/25 (17.9-years) which traded the most with KES 4.77Bn as its yield to maturity dropped further from 14.1127% to 13.8110%.
