Daily Market Brief
The overall market dropped marginally by 0.2% with NSE 10 counter having the greatest loss of 0.6%. NSE 20 and NSE 25 counters fell by 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. The banking sector shed 0.7% on average.
Shares traded grew by 11.9% from 22.99Mn to 25.73Mn shares constituting to a rise in the day’s turnover from KES616.06Mn to KES937.42Mn.
Market focus was in the telecommunication and manufacturing sector which moved KES 581.37Mn and KES 191.43Mn in turnover respectively.
Safaricom was the top mover of the day with KES 581.37Mn in turnover followed by BAT and DTBK with KES 178.53Mn and KES 49.29Mn in turnover respectively.
Foreign activity dwindled to 26.9% as net foreign outflows increased to KES 361.17Mn. Major net foreign inflows were noted on Jubilee Holdings while net foreign outflows happened on Safaricom and BAT.
Secondary bonds’ turnover more than doubled to KES 10.80Bn while the number of deals moved up by 12.1%. The most traded paper was IFB1/2023/7yr due to a decline of its yield from 12.2240% to 10.7470%.
