Daily Market Brief

 Stock prices were further up 0.7% on Friday, 22nd August 2025, led by NSE 20 stocks which gathered 0.9% on average followed by NSE 25 and NSE 10 with 0.4% and 0.2% gains, respectively.

Week on week, equities prices surged 2.6% on average, as measured by the all share index, watch out for our weekly market updates.

Safaricom emerged the day’s top mover with KES 269.66Mn turnover from 9.55Mn shares on increase foreign activity which saw its price 1.3% up from KES 27.90 to 28.25 per share. Equity Group and KCB Group took second and third top mover positions.

Foreign activity doubled up from 30.2% to an average of 60.4% with a 19.0% rise in net foreign outflows to KES 73.46Mn.

Secondary bonds market value traded dropped by half from KES 8.29Bn to KES 4.12Bn as the number of deals also went down from 209 deals to 173 deals.

IFB1/2022/19 re-opened in August 2025 emerged the day’s top mover with only KES 1.04Bn, followed by FXD1/2020/15Yr.
